There's a new book that might be of interest to budding entrepreneurial journalists. Funding Journalism in the Digital Age: Business Models, Strategies, Issues and Trends looks at what people are doing now to draw revenue and how we got into this mess.
Among the big issues discussed in the book, according to the Huffington Post, are: whether or not to provide free online content, how to connect with their respective audiences, how to satisfy those audiences' information needs, how to cut newsroom costs, and, how to innovate.
Advertising as it has been done in recent memory is unlikely to be the future source of journalism funding.
So, what will provide the money to allow journalists to perform their duty for society?
